This marks another significant step in our strong partnership with Accor, reaffirming our commitment to providing exceptional experiences for the informed, cosmopolitan traveller.

Moreover, 2024 signifies a tremendous achievement – our 30th year of continuous operations. We're eagerly preparing for a grand celebration, an anniversary event dedicated to mark this momentous milestone.

As we embrace these exciting developments, I am confident that our journey will continue to be marked by success, growth, and collective achievements. Each one of you plays a pivotal role in our ongoing story of triumph, and I look forward to celebrating even more victories together.

Mr. Hanny Hanny kindly lent his phone to a foreign guest to recover their lost device using phone data. During this time, Hanny had no phone to use. Fortunately, the guest returned within 30 minutes with Hanny's mobile, having successfully retrieved their own phone.
Ms. Sarinah Team Tristar, led by HM Sarinah and supported by AM Wee (Venue Classic), demonstrated exceptional commitment during a recent fire incident at Tristar basement car park. Each member, including SFOE Nico, HK Zul, Khiem, Sai, Clarence, and MT Hiro, reacted swiftly, ensuring a well-organized evacuation for guest safety. The remarkable teamwork highlighted our dedication to effective collaboration, even providing crucial support like water and food for guests, showcasing our commitment to a caring environment in challenging circumstances.
Mr. Jasmond Jasmond's proactive initiative during the setup of H81 Palace, especially in room preparation, significantly lightened the Housekeeping workload. His dedication and hard work earned him the respect of the team. Additionally, at H81 Gold, Jasmond consistently supports Housekeeping by handling laundry deliveries and managing linen distribution to the pantry. His commitment is vital to maintaining smooth operations and ensuring timely room readiness.
Mr. Farhadur Fahadur consistently provides excellent service by attentively addressing guest needs, garnering positive online reviews, and earning the Gold Service Award from SHA. Moreover, he adeptly follows instructions and completes assigned tasks promptly.
Ms. Liu Fei Liu Fei is a highly efficient and reliable team member who consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic, requiring minimal supervision for room cleanliness. After the isolation period, during low-staffing situations, she willingly returned on her rest day to work overtime, showcasing her dedication to teamwork. In a recent incident, she found a $50 SGD bill in a makeup room, promptly reporting it to the housekeeping group chat and ensuring it was visibly placed on the tabletop for the guest.

Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre had a lively team cohesion event in October, celebrating birthdays and enjoying a team-building activity. Meanwhile, at V Hotel Lavender, a collaboration between team member James and VHL resulted in a heart-warming surprise for Mr. & Mrs. Gruyal's 44th anniversary.

In another touching incident, despite challenges, Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre's James, Sheela, and Azlin went the extra mile for Mr and Mrs Jain, when they are based at V Hotel Lavender. Learning about Mrs Jain's dietary preferences and birthday, they managed to surprise her with a special eggless cake and balloons.

Hotel Mi Bencoolen & Hotel Mi Rochor
 
 
Hotel Mi Bencoolen celebrated its 6th anniversary on Sep 27, 2023. Teams from both Hotel Mi Bencoolen and Hotel Mi Rochor joined in for a delightful celebration with a shared birthday cake, fostering team spirit.

In anticipation of Hotel Mi Rochor's opening, a team-building event was held at Planet Bowl on Sep 7, 2023. With 31 staff members participating from both hotels, the bowling event aimed to strengthen the "One Family" culture, emphasizing their collective identity as part of the Mi Family.

Promoting safety, a practical fire extinguisher training session was conducted at Hotel Mi Bencoolen. Staff from both hotels actively participated, learning essential fire safety skills to enhance preparedness.

The V Hotel Lavender management organized a special Staff Night for all team members, including those from Icon FOEs on secondment. The evening included a buffet dinner, a satay spread, a lucky draw, and the presentation of trophy awards to recognize outstanding performance and contributions.

Hotel Boss staff recently had a great time bonding at Jubilicious restaurant on November 1 and December 12, 2023, with the presence of managers and supervisors.

What interesting fact about yourself that most of your colleagues are not aware of?
Being the youngest of four kids, I learned a lot from my siblings - sometimes the hard way! It meant I had to be quick on my feet, a good listener, and pretty creative when it came to problem-solving, like figuring out how to get more share of the fried chicken. These experiences from my childhood have stuck with me. They’ve made me someone who values different perspectives and can adapt to just about any situation. It’s something that comes in handy in my career, especially when working with diverse teams or facing unexpected challenges.

Please share 1 proudest moment or memory?
The day my child was born in 2021 was a game-changer for me. It wasn't just about the sleepless nights or learning how to change diapers at record speed. It was about this tiny human teaching me big things – like patience, the real meaning of a deadline (like a hungry cry at 3.00 AM), and how to appreciate the small moments. These lessons have spilled over into my work life too. I've found myself becoming more understanding with colleagues, better at managing my time, and really focusing on what's important.

Whom do you admire most and why?
I really admire my wife for her ability to juggle everything. She's like a superhero managing her career, our home, and still chasing her own dreams. Her secret power? She never loses her cool and always finds a way to laugh, even on tough days. She's taught me a lot about staying positive and finding the fun in chaos.

What drives you / what motivates you?
At the end of the day, what really gets me going is my family. They're my team, my cheerleaders, and sometimes my toughest critics. Whether it's working to keep the lights on and the fridge stocked, or setting an example for my kids that hard work pays off, they're at the heart of everything I do. They keep me grounded and remind me what's really important. They're the reason I push through tough days and the first ones I want to share any success with.

Your hobbies?
I'm a tech and data enthusiast, always eager to see what's new – it's like those Sunday trips to McDonald's as a kid, waiting for a Happy Meal. For downtime, I'm either gaming or on the squash court. I've just picked up squash with my wife, and it's interesting learning something new every time. Travel is our family's big thing. We love exploring new places, trying out quirky foods, and just making memories. My hobbies, whether it's tech, data, gaming, sports, or traveling – keep life interesting and fun.

I once aspired to be a bartender and fulfilled that dream when I worked as a part-time bartender in England for a short period.

Please share 1 proudest moment or memory?
I take great pride in my ability to pursue my dream career path by deciding to embark on a journey into the U.S. job market in 2016. This endeavour led me to many first-time experiences as I ventured into this new phase of my life independently. Notably, I successfully acquired the means to own a car, which allowed me to explore the diverse landscapes and cities throughout the United States. One particularly memorable achievement was completing a 3000-mile road trip from South Texas to the picturesque town of San Francisco on the West Coast. This adventurous journey left an indelible mark on my life, offering me invaluable experiences and cherished.

Whom do you admire most and why?
Meeting Vanessa during my time at university in England was a true stroke of luck. She's not just a friend; she's become family. Vanessa's impact on my life has been transformative. She's been a source of inspiration, teaching me the significance of fearlessness in pursuing one's dreams with unwavering determination, leaving no room for regrets. Her friendship and guidance have been immeasurable.

I'm incredibly proud of Vanessa for her remarkable achievement in winning Miss Universe Malaysia in 2016. Attending the Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas, where Vanessa represented Malaysia on such a prestigious stage, was an absolute honour. Her accomplishments are a testament to her talent and dedication, and I'm privileged to have been a part of that unforgettable experience.

What drives you / what motivates you?
For me, recognition and appreciation are profound motivators for fostering personal growth and self-improvement. When I am acknowledged and appreciated for the efforts I invest, it has a profound positive impact on various aspects of my journey, notably my sense of purpose, self-esteem, and overall fulfilment. These effects motivate me to maintain a dedicated and enthusiastic approach to my endeavours.

Your hobbies?
Travelling. I enjoy exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and discovering new landscapes. Taking pleasure in the adventure and exploration allows me to break away from my daily routines and immerse myself in new and exciting experiences.

Qualifying Criteria
● Referred candidates must be sourced through individual efforts excluding use of social media or any other paid or unpaid recruitment platforms.
● Referee and referred person must not have direct reporting relationship.
● Not an ex-employee who has left employment.
● Employees who are of job grade C-1 and above and/or positions involved in recruitment are NOT eligible to the incentive. e.g. HR and personnel in charge of hiring and General Managers of the hotels.
● Walk-in application at the hotel properties are not define as referral cases.

Payment
● Payment to referrer will be on the 4th and 7th month from the join date of the new hire of $500 each trench via normal payroll. Both referrer and referred employee must be confirmed at time of payout.
● Both referrer and new hire must NOT be serving notice or terminated from service at the point of pay out.

Phishing messages often begin with impersonal greetings. “Dear user” or “Hello, PayPal member” are definitely suspicious. Messages from PayPal will always use the full name listed in your PayPal account.

2. Attachments
Attachments can contain malware, so never open them unless you’re 100% sure they’re legitimate.

3. A sense of urgency
Don’t heed pleas for you to take fast action or warning you of problems that will compromise your account status.

4. Fake URL
If the web address is scrambled or looks suspicious, don't click on anything and leave.

5. Asks for sensitive info
Never provide personal, credit card, or account info via email, text, or phone.

6. Poorly written
Typos, misspellings, and incorrect grammar are common in phishing messages.
