Dear Colleagues,

I have some exciting news to share as we reach the year's halfway mark. In the coming months, we will open two new hotels in Short Street and Club Street, with our latter flagship property launching in early Q4. These additions mark significant milestones in our journey of success and expansion.

Furthermore, we will participate in ITB Asia in October 2023 to showcase our latest properties to travel trade partners and media. This is an incredible opportunity to strengthen our brand presence and build valuable partnerships.

I am filled with enthusiasm and confidence as we look ahead. With your continued support, I am certain we will achieve remarkable milestones and exceed our goals.

Thank you for your outstanding commitment. Let's embrace the upcoming growth together and strive for excellence.

Front Office Manager - Hotel Mi

What interesting fact about yourself that most of your colleagues are not aware of?
I have a passion for motorcycle riding and touring. On occasion, I embark on thrilling adventures in Malaysia.

This encourages me to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new experiences. It serves as a reminder that life is meant to be lived to the fullest, and there is so much to discover beyond the boundaries of our daily routines.

Please share 1 proudest moment or memory?
It would be my experience serving in the Army during my National service. I was honoured to be recognized as the Best Soldier in my battalion and received the accolade for Best Physical Fitness in my cohort.

Furthermore, in that same year, I accomplished a significant personal milestone by completing both a half and full marathon.

These accomplishments hold a special place in my heart as they represent not only my physical capabilities but also the mental strength and discipline I cultivated throughout these endeavours.

Whom do you admire most and why?
My mother. Selfless, kind and generous. Her unwavering selflessness, kindness, and generosity serve as a constant reminder to me of the importance of caring for others and making a positive impact in their lives.

What drives you / what motivates you?
Making a difference. I believe that our actions and contributions can have a transformative effect on the lives of others and that, in turn, can make a profound difference in our own lives. No matter how big or small, it is not only a responsibility but also a source of personal growth and fulfilment.

Your hobbies?
One of my favourite hobbies is running. I find great joy and satisfaction in hitting the pavement and pushing my limits. I also find solace and rejuvenation in practising yoga. While I don't practice yoga as frequently as running, these activities allow me to engage in physical exercise, explore my limits, and find moments of tranquillity. They are not only hobbies but also sources of personal well-being and self-care.

What interesting fact about yourself that most of your colleagues are not aware of?
I love reading! Reading is my way of relaxing. I can't relax by just sitting down and doing nothing because I feel unproductive. When I read, I can feel relaxed and productive. And I love being busy.

Please share 1 proudest moment or memory?
Being a mom. There are no other titles I respond to with such warmth, love, and joy as "Mom".

Whom do you admire most and why?
Oprah Winfrey is a person I admire, for her determination to be great and very informative. And she is a humanitarian to the world.

What drives you / what motivates you?
I stay motivated by focusing on the bigger picture! By working hard now, I believe I will have financial freedom in future and spend more time with my family! I take on this mindset every day and allow it to motivate me to be better and push me towards that goal!

Your hobbies?
I love Muay Thai, go-kart and travel.

Getting To Know Your Neighbourhood - Geylang

Our colleague, Azmi, has gone around Geylang to show us some hidden gems but first, did you know?...

The word Geylang is found early in Singapore's history and also in early topographical maps showing marsh and coconut plantations beside and adjacent to the mouth of the Kallang River, home to the Orang Laut (sea gypsies) called orang biduanda kallang that inhabited the area at the time of Raffles' arrival in 1819, and after whom the river is named.

Now, let’s move on to some hidden gems in Geylang itself!

2. Decathlon (Kallang)
3. Kallang Ice World
4. Mufiz Prata Corner (Halal)
5. 126 Dim Sum Wen Dao Shi 揾到食

5 Health Tips For Busy Workers

As working professionals, we may be so caught up with work that it’s easy to sacrifice our health to get the job done. Don’t do that. Not only does taking good care of your body helps you function at your peak, your work performance will also improve. Check out these tips to help you get healthier without major changes to your lifestyle.

Tip #1
Eat Breakfast

Don't skip breakfast! It's the most important meal of the day for a reason. Skipping breakfast has been linked to moodiness, diabetes, and obesity risks.

Tip #2
Walk Where Possible

You don't need to dedicate time for a workout to stay active. Simple activities like taking a walk during lunch or walking home instead of taking the bus can make a difference in your health and fitness.

Tip #3
Keep Yourself Hydrated

Dehydration can cause fatigue, tiredness, and headaches, affecting your work performance. It slows down your body's functions, making you feel sluggish. Stay hydrated to eliminate these symptoms and prevent unnecessary snacking at work, maintaining a healthy waistline.

Tip #4
Cover Your Nutritional Gaps

In our busy schedules, it can be challenging to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Fast food and skipped meals lack proper nutrition. Consider taking a multivitamin supplement to bridge any gaps in your protein and vegetable intake.

Tip #5
Cut Down on Coffee

Excessive caffeine intake has long-term negative effects on your body. It can lead to insomnia, nausea, increased calcium excretion, and hinder iron absorption. This raises the risk of osteoporosis and anemia.
